  1. Hi Jayz! Sorry, but I have to begin this comment by saying something negative about your post as it is glaringly obvious. While reading, I was more distracted by your language errors than trying to understand what you are trying to say. I’m not trying to prove that mine is better, but I do feel that this is an area where you can improve on. I guess that you could probably get someone (who is strong in English) to vet your work before you post them up. If you really do need to know where you’ve gone wrong, I could help point out your mistakes to you.

That aside, I liked the way you keep your paragraphs short (unlike mine). It’s easier to read. However, it interrupts with the flow of your post, especially when readers do not see the link between paragraphs.

In regards to your content, the question asked for ‘why effective communication is important to you’, and not, ‘is effective communication important?’ For most part of your post, you were answering the latter question. It was only when you reached your last paragraph that you were focusing on the correct question, but it became too much of a squeeze. You have to remember that you are writing a blog post, not an essay.

I apologize once again if I seem very harsh, but I do hope my comments would help you improve. Cheers!

  2. Jay!

Though I've always thought communication is when one conveys a message to another; your post gave a new meaning to the word. Will communication be complete if it's a monologue?Since communication takes place between two individuals, does it only end when the recipient responds?

Your last paragraph brought out an important point in today's cosmopolitan society:we need people who not only listen, but respond adequately and appropriately as well. Gone are the days when 'Yes Sir, yes Sir 3 bags full' individuals are employed. With humans as our only exploitable means of resource, influx of foreigners, a definite number of jobs, only employees who respond competently scale the corporate ladder. Employers seek individuals who possess not only effective communication skills, but those that can offer creative opinions, respond in a satisfactory manner & value-add to the organisation. Need we ponder why expatriates are more readily employed than home-grown Singaporeans? We have much to learn from them in the above aspects. Until then, individuals who possess more coveted qualities will be more sought after.
